In the center, in a pyramid form, two shields of the Canton of Zurich are surmounted by that of the Holy Roman Empire with its Imperial Crown. They are flanked by rampant lions, one holding and orb and the other a sword. They stand against an arcade of gold columns against blue pilasters with green capitals, supporting a red lintel. A curved vault is overhead. At the far end is a lunette opening showing a festooned vase with fruits and flowers. Below the arms is a cartouche with a wide red border that displays the date. To either side are architectural moldings with swags and fruit. Surrounding the panel on all four sides are the multi-colored coasts of arms of Zurich’s thirty-five associated localities.
