Description

Vor einer Flusslandschaft mit einem Dorf und Gebirge im Hintergrund erscheinen unter der Heiliggeisttaube links der hl. Christophorus und rechts die hl. Barbara. Im Vordergrund steht zwischen den beiden Heiligen das unbekannte Stifterwappen. Die das Figurenbild umlaufende, teilweise zerstörte Inschrift gibt nur noch den Namen der Gemahlin des Wappeninhabers vollständig preis.

Research

Aus der allein erhaltenenen Endsilbe des Männernamens lässt sich der Stifter nicht mehr eruieren, doch muss sein Vorname Christoph gelautet haben, da links sein Namenspatron erscheint. Die Familie Ambühl ist vor allem in der Innerschweiz, im toggenburgischen Wattwil und im Wallis verbreitet.
