Biographical Data

Austrian entrepreneur active in Vienna. Shortly after his marriage to Maria Russleitner in April 1900, Kainz-Bindl and his wife travelled to Egypt, the Middle East, Turkey, and Bulgaria and acquired Islamic artworks on their journeys. In order to present these in an appropriate setting, in 1901 Kainz-Bindl added an Arab-style interior with replicas of stucco and glass windows made in Austria to his residential and commercial building at Währinger Gürtel 166 in Vienna.
