Biographical Data
Josef Löwy is best known for being Imperial and Royal court photographer in Vienna. Before dedicating himself professionally to photography, he studied painting at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (‘Academy of Fine Arts’) in Vienna. He was part of the Viennese Photographers’ Association that had exclusive photographic rights to document the Vienna world’s fair of 1873.
