The French Orientalist painter Paul Alexandre Alfred Leroy (1860–1942) also painted stucco and glass windows in other paintings: a window with two stylized cypress trees, for example, can be seen in two of his paintings, both titled In the Harem (Sotheby’s, 2001, lot 12, and Christie’s, 2007, lot 81), as well as in his painting The Blue Room (Sotheby’s, 2023, Lot 51). Leroy’s 1908 painting Martyr d’amour also shows two stucco and glass windows: one with a stylized vase of flowers in a medallion can be seen in the background on the left (compare this window with IG_4, IG_5, and IG_435), and the other, with a stylized cypress and flowers, on the right (Christie’s, 2007, lot 30).
