    Es handelt sich um die Wappenscheibe von Dr. Alfred Ziegler (1842–1890). Er war Leutnant der Infanterie und hatte Philosophie studiert (Ziegler, 1918, S. 131). Ziegler lebte auf dem im Kanton Thurgau gelegenen Schloss Steinegg bei Hüttwilen, das er in den Jahren 1886 und 1887 durch den Architekten Christian Friedrich Hahn grundlegend umbauen liess (Hein, 2014). Die Scheibe stammt vom Schloss Steinegg.
    Ab 1901 war im Schloss Steinegg eine Natur- und Fastenheilklinik untergebracht, später kam ein Schlosshotel dazu. Beides ging um 2000 in Konkurs. Der Bau wurde darauf umfänglich saniert, wobei die Scheibe zur Denkmalpflege und von dort ans Museum gelangte.
