Dekorative Verglasung von zwei Türflügeln und darüberliegendem Oberlicht mit der Darstellung eines bewachsenen Teichufers. Im unteren Teil sind auf dem Wasser schwimmend eine Seerose und eine Ente gezeigt, während am Ufer ein Kranich steht, der sich zu einem Frosch hinabbeugt. Dahinter ragen Schilf und blühenden Büsche mit einem darauf sitzenden Rotkehlchen auf.

Farbloses und farbiges Glas sowie weisses Opaleszentglas. Bemalung mit Schwarzlot, Braunlot, Silbergelb und Eisenrot sowie grüner und blauer Schmelzfarbe.

Research

Laut dem Allgemeinen Künstlerlexikon wurde die einzigartige Glasmalerei der tanzenden Japanerinnen in der Veranda der Villa Meyashiki (TG_2400) in Frauenfeld 1903 von Friedrich Berbig geschaffen. Die übrigen Glasmalereien der Villa datieren entweder ebenfalls von 1903, oder sie entstanden 1911 im Zuge eines tiefgreifenden Um- und Ausbaus der Villa. Aus stilistischen Gründen ist anzunehmen, dass auch diese Glasmalereien aus der Werkstatt Berbig stammen. Sie zeugen von der Vorliebe für dekorative Darstellungen von Flora und Fauna in Wasser und Luft während des Jugendstils.
