Description

Die ovale Monolithscheibe zeigt das Vollwappen Vinzenz Spätings (Spaeting) vor farblosem Grund. Die Helmdecke des Wappens ist hier in Form zweier Blattzweige gestaltet. Oberhalb des Wappenschildes befindet sich auf einem grossen entrollten Schriftband ein religiöser Sinnspruch. Am Scheibenfuss ist die Stifterinschrift festgehalten.

History

Research

Vinzenz Spaeting (1671–1750) entstammte der gleichnamigen, 1756 ausgestorbenen Stadtberner Familie. Er war Färber, 1723 Kastlan zu Wimmis und 1741 Kastlan zu Zweisimmen (HBLS 6/1931, S. 459).

Die beiden Ovalscheiben Späting und Grünenwald im Bernischen Historisches Museum gehören zusammen. Da die Scheibe Grünenwald (BHM Bern, Inv. 24280) 1746 datiert ist, stammt wohl auch die vorliegende aus diesem Jahr.
