Research

Samuel Herzog (1712–1756) war wie sein gleichnamiger, berühmter Vater (1661–1743) Stadtarzt in Bern. Vor 1733 heiratete er Maria Salome Rüetschi (1706–vor 1740) und in zweiter Ehe 1740 Rosina Salome Rüetschi (1722–1772) (HBLS 4/1927, S. 205; Kessel 2015).

Das vorliegende Stück und die im Bernischen Historischen Museum befindlichen Scheiben Wild von 1748 (BHM Bern, Inv. 4998), Willading von 1746 (BHM Bern, Inv. 4997) und Knecht von 1746 (BHM Bern, Inv. 4995) wurden wahrscheinlich gemeinsam für denselben Ort geschaffen. Sie weisen Parallelen zu den von Samuel Küpfer stammenden Scheiben aus der Kirche Grafenried auf und lassen sich somit diesem Glasmaler zuschreiben.
