    Research

    Johann Jakob Pfander wurde am 18. November 1686 als Sohn des Rotgerbers Samuel Pfander und der Katharina Baur in Bern geboren. Er ergriff den Beruf des Glasers. Von seinen Arbeiten erfährt man bislang lediglich, dass er 1731 im Auftrag des Schaffners des Interlaken Hauses insgesamt 15 Fensterflügel für das Pfrundhaus von Bolligen verglaste (Kessel 2015; BeFin 2007). Das Wappen des Stifters schliesst nicht die häufig anzutreffenden Glaserwerkzeuge ein, sondern das sprechende Bild für seinen Namen, d. h. eine Pfanne, beseitet von zwei Sternen.

    Die beiden im Bernischen Historischen Museum befindlichen Scheiben Hans Peter Strubharts von 1736 und Johann Jakob Pfanders von 1729 (BHM Bern, Inv. 4993 und 4994) sind der Andreas Fueter zuzuweisenden Serie von Grisaillescheiben aus dem Jahr 1722 (u. a. BHM Bern, Inv. 1127, 1171) verwandt. Sie dürften demnach von diesem Berner Glasmaler stammen.
