Information about the Building

The mosque was built during the reign of Sultan al-Muʾayyad between 818 AH / 1415 AD and 824 AH / 1421 AD.
In 1837, Pascal Coste published several plates of the monument, based on drawings made between 1818 and 1826 (Coste, 1837, pls XXVIII–XXXI). One of these (pl. XXX, IG_159) shows four stucco and glass windows in one of the court facades.
Only a few decades later, around 1872, the mosque was largely in ruins, and at the end of the 19th century it was renovated by the Comité de Conservation des Monuments de l’Art Arabe (Barois/Grand/Sedak/Herz, 1890, p. 74).
Jules Bourgoin published a fragment of a stucco and glass window from the mosque (IG_47).
